2023 JEEP GLADIATOR STYLING & INTERIOR FEATURES
Gladiator has logically placed controls that are easy to reach. Jeep’s classic upright driving position works well here. The generous backseat space is a real advantage over competing for crew-cab pickups. The Gladiator Rubicon is tall and difficult to climb into. Still, the wide handles and wide-opening doors make the process easier. And did we mention it’s a convertible?
Front and rear visibility are excellent, and drivers can easily position the tires where they need them. The standard rearview camera can be combined with an optional front camera for off-road driving.
The infotainment touchscreen has attractive graphics and a quick response time. It is also easy to use due to a logical mix of fixed buttons, knobs, and touchscreen controls. The sound quality from the optional Alpine stereo system is satisfyingly clear, and the Gladiator’s available advanced driver aids also work well.
The Gladiator stands out from the competition with a robust towing rating (even the Rubicon) and ample cargo capacity. Its bed is thoughtfully designed, with low bedside tables and a power-locking rear door. If you trailer a lot, consider adding aftermarket towing mirrors, as the Gladiator’s narrow body means you won’t be able to see past a wide load with standard mirrors.
The volume and folding strategy of the rear seat make it suitable for cargo and child seats. The main weak point of Gladiator is the lack of places to store personal belongings. The center console and glove box are small, and the door storage is a mesh pocket.
Additional interior features of the Gladiator include:
- Cloth or leather seat trim
- Six-way manual driver’s seat with lumbar support
- Lockable rear under-seat storage
- 3.5- or 7-in. cluster information display
- LED ambient interior lighting
- Eight- or Alpine® nine-speaker audio system
- 7- or 8.4-in. touchscreen infotainment display
- Navigation built-in
- Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™
- Bluetooth®
- HD Radio™
- ParkView® rear backup camera
- Sentry Key® theft deterrent system
- Remote start system
2023 JEEP GLADIATOR SPECS
Jeep offers the 2023 Jeep Gladiator with two engine options: a 285-horsepower 3.6-liter gas V6 or a 260-horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. Both engines have an eight-speed automatic transmission, but only the gas V6 can be paired with a six-speed manual. It is noteworthy that all-wheel drive is standard for the entire lineup.
The gas V6, or Pentastar in Jeep parlance, is adequate for daily driving. It moves the truck smoothly around town and up to highway speeds — zero to 60 mph takes about 8 seconds — but it needs to rev to make the most of its power, which can cause long inclines and overtaking maneuvers a noisy affair. Except for a noticeable rumble on start-up, the EcoDiesel V6 runs a bit more gracefully than the gasser. It develops 442 lb-ft of torque at just 1,400 rpm. This abundance of low-end power delivers quicker acceleration and improved towing ability.
